Are all the applications that communicate with xscreensaver have been
fixed to also communicate with gnome screensaver correctly? If not,
then this "benefit" is a major regression. There are three possible
choices in regards to this issue:
* fix all the applications so that they communicate correctly with
both xscreensaver and gnome screensaver (unrealistic)
* fix gnomescreensaver so that it accepts all the same signals as
xscreensaver and therefore works with all the programms involved
(might be quite nontrivial, so not recommended in freeze)
* go back to xscreensaver (recommended)

Also the last option seems to be preferable because of the
configuration issue and because of the regression of breaking some
screen savers.

I do not really see how gnomescreensaver could have even been
evaluated for inclusion into Dapper in such bad shape!
