Upgrade DejaVu fonts to version 2.3

Hi All,
We experienced some problems with the current Dejavu 2.1 fonts (included 
in Dapper),
including applications crashing when displaying specific glyphs. In 
addition, there are packaging issues (problematic hints file).

DejaVu is the basic font in Dapper for Western languages (specifically 
Cyrillic-based, Greek-based, Latin extended, etc).

We tested with the latest version of DejaVu, 2.3, and we found out that 
the problems are solved.

We filed bug reports on this, however, the ttf-dejavu package maintainer 
does not appear to follow Malone.

Is it possible to get someone work on this issue?
