Hi,
first a huge thanks for this, as expected it is not bug-free but it is
nice to be able to test it so easily!
should I report bugs on it in launchpad or should I try to do so upstream only ?
(I don't see the ubuntu devs spending lot of time on this new thing)
On a related side, metacity is now linked with an opengl
compositing-manager that shoul run on top of a regular Xorg, a patch
should go to HEAD (ie not for gnome 2.14) soon making it a runtime
option (http://mail.gnome.org/archives/metacity-devel-list/2006-February/msg00004.html).
As this won't go into gnome 2.14 it shouldn't enter dapper, but I'd
like to play with it as well (it might be more stable than the Xgl
thingy). I'm fine with compilling metacity and libcm from HEAD myself
but it also needs a patched mesa (
http://dev.gentoo.org/~spyderous/xorg-x11/redhat/mesa-6.4.1-5/mesa-6.4.1-texture-from-drawable.patch
should be the good one) which in turns needs a patched Xorg. I am
_not_ fine with using Xorg from cvs!
So, my question is: does anyone here have the needed patch (for Xorg)
or intents to package it ?
Are you willing to try to support it for dapper ? I don't expect the
answer to be "yes" but I didn't expected Xgl to enter dapper either ;)
regards
