	I have to agree with mdz here.  Everybody has a different point that their 
"Linux conversion" hinges upon.  Nevertheless, it the grand scheme of things 
a little (or a lot of) redraw isn't as big a deal to most people as general 
user-friendliness.  If it can be fixed without having to completely rewrite 
X, then great, otherwise, I think that this discussion is better suited for a 
forum on x.org.  Perhaps a patch that allows X to use hardware acceleration 
if available might be a middle ground?  I'm not really a programmer, but I'm 
sure somebody else in this forum could tell us how realistic that is for 
having 9 (?) weeks left in the release cycle.
