Content preview:  Hi all, Recently in dapper mounted drives do not show 
  up on the desktop. In the case of local partitions, that is a nice 
  thing, especially because the Places menu is so useful. However, in 
  the case of remote servers and things plugged in by usb, it is a 
  disaster because it's not possible to right-click and unmount them. 
  I've been led to understand that unplugging usb drives and so on 
  without unmounting them first is a Bad Thing. Has this functionality 
  been disabled intentionally? If so, how do users unmount their network 
  servers and external disks? [...]
