comprehensive location switcher?

hi folks,
for some time I've been wanting a comprehensive location switcher for
ubuntu -- a checkbox that adjusts my postfix, evolution, vpn, and
network configuration depending on where I am. (There may be other
variables that need adjusting too, I don't know).
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/NetworkRoaming is related but not exactly what
I'm talking about -- what I mean is being able to quickly and
effortlessly change all relevant settings so that I can not only connect
to the internet, but send emails whether via mutt or evolution. Does
anyone know whether such a tool is in the works? A quick search didn't
turn up any specs besides the NetworkRoaming one.
I have some quick ad-hoc python code that manages much of this for me,
but it's hardly usable by others.
