Oh, there are lots of non-professional people with large photo sets. My
parents use Picasa on Windows for keeping track of their photos (my
dad's a decent amateur photographer, but I think it's mostly
family/holiday snaps), and gthumb/eog would be a big step backwards for
them. f-spot seems like it has the potential to be a good free
replacement.
