extended partition not covering entire hard disk

Hi!
The ubuntu installer creates a partition layout, where the extended partition
spans the used logical partition and leaves the rest of disk out.
Illustration :
80 GB disk :
- 1st primary partition , 10 GB
- extended partition , 30 GB :
- 1st logical partition : 1 GB
- 2nd logical partition : 29 GB
This layout makes creating further logical partitions very hard,
since the tool used should expand the extended partitions without
destroying its contents, which is a task almost no partitioning
tool can do.
Hereby I politely ask, to make ubuntu create extended paritions that
cover the entire space until the end of the disk.
Thank you.
(or at least argument, why is the current behavior good)
Regards,
David
