<off-topic>In Xorg 7.0 this worked for me (at least using suspend2
8-)</off-topic>

I also want to say that I fully support the Ubuntu choice to be free,
which means we won't delay all the goodies of Xorg 7.1 for proprietary
drivers to come to existence, be them from nVidia. I really regret the
Fedora/Gentoo stance on that, especially as Xorg comes with a working
2D driver for nVidia chipsets anyway (not like we're left with
nothing). And yes, I am affected: two of my computers have nVidia
graphic chipsets.

These days more than ever, I am happy to have chosen (K)Ubuntu.
