The feature goals for Edgy were established back in June, and are listed
here:

There was no particular interest in the feature you describe at that time.
There is a draft specification which has been a work in progress for some
time which addresses the authentication side of this:

to which you are welcome to subscribe and contribute, or if your idea is
substantially different, you can help get it written down and fleshed out.
