You should find that the latest apt-proxy (1.9.34) works a lot better, and I'd 
be grateful for any feedback you have if you can still find any problems. 
I've only just uploaded to Debian unstable and haven't tested/uploaded to 
Ubuntu yet as there are some regressions in apt-proxy-import. But the 1.9.34 
in unstable should work on Ubuntu without any changes.
