There are several machines which does this. Some onboard chips even gets
in conflict with nvidia boards [1]. The onboard video becomes unusable,
but the memory is stolen anyway.. Rather strange indeed.
Oh, and this is not necessairly true about the cheapest desktops. I got
last year a testing board from intel which came with a quite decent
processor (a pentium d at that time), with i945 chipset and stealing
128mb of main RAM. AFAIK, it's the same video board used on those new
mac/intel notebooks, isn't it?
