Thanks, I saw another thread sounding similar to this http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=68477 to do with x-server breakages. If you feel like playing russian roulette you could say yes there to remove all those packages, then reinstall them again. This might solve whatever dependency error wanting to get rid of them... -- fordfan753
