actually late october first week of november COULD be very nice.  Now if
it was held in January/February then it would be cold for sure.

I just took a quick look at the weather average and records for November
1st from Environment Canada for the airport in Montreal
(http://www.climate.weatheroffice.ec.gc.ca):

Average Maximum temperature:   8.9C
Average Minimum temperature:   0.7C
Frequency of precipitation: 51%
Highest Temperature:  18.3C (1974)
Lowest Temperature:  -7.2C (2002)
Most snow on the ground:  13cm  (1993)
Greatest Rainfall: 55.6mm (1994)

So take your pick of the weather you will get this year :)
