I think it would be worth considering:

totem: play all media (audio and video files, audio and video discs).
rhythmbox: organize music collection
nautilus/totem/rhythmbox: convert CD's to wav/ogg/etc

Ideally nautilus, totem and rhythmbox should also have the ability to
write media CD's from files (nautilus, DnD) or playlists (totem and
rhythmbox).
