low breezy hard disk performances

I'm also seeing slow disk access. After upgrade I thought it was
evolution that was being slow - however it does seem to be a general
disk access issue.

I get consistently good results in runlevel 1, but in standard
multi-user mode I get inconsistent speeds, and always lower than the
"init 1" versions:

Results while in init 1:
------------------------

/dev/hda:
 Timing cached reads: 1340 MB in 2.01 seconds = 668.10 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads: 138 MB in 3.01 seconds = 45.78 MB/sec

/dev/hda:
 Timing cached reads: 1332 MB in 2.00 seconds = 665.77 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads: 138 MB in 3.01 seconds = 45.85 MB/sec

/dev/hda:
 Timing cached reads: 1344 MB in 2.00 seconds = 671.10 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads: 138 MB in 3.01 seconds = 45.90 MB/sec

/dev/hda:
 Timing cached reads: 1336 MB in 2.00 seconds = 667.10 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads: 138 MB in 3.01 seconds = 45.88 MB/sec

Results in multi-user mode (Standard graphical shell)
-----------------------------------------------------
/dev/hda:
 Timing cached reads: 1028 MB in 2.01 seconds = 512.29 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads: 18 MB in 3.38 seconds = 5.33 MB/sec

/dev/hda:
 Timing cached reads: 1008 MB in 2.01 seconds = 502.32 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads: 44 MB in 3.06 seconds = 14.37 MB/sec

/dev/hda:
 Timing cached reads: 1016 MB in 2.00 seconds = 507.82 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads: 30 MB in 3.83 seconds = 7.83 MB/sec

/dev/hda:
 Timing cached reads: 1016 MB in 2.00 seconds = 506.81 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads: 54 MB in 3.07 seconds = 17.56 MB/sec

Does anyone know of an open bug that this should be logged against?
