Bitstream Vera Sans unhinted?

Mmmm... I think autohinter is disabled by default in Hoary. But I
believe that the screenshot shows Bitstream Vera fonts rendered with
autohinter enabled.

I think the first poster complaints about autohinter is disabled by
default. Isn't it?
