breezy networking problem

I Just installed breezy w.o. problems.
Network Configuration was done manually and the installaton worked fine.
After complete instalation and rebooting the network isn't working.
"ifconfig" looks fine. anything like it should be.
"route" needs long time to figure ot rotes, but than output also looks fine.
trying ssh a host (by ip) inside and outside network mask fails with : no
route to host.
the network card is a 8139too. During the boot process the kernel complains
about that it's not compatible to 8139cp and chooses 8139too. But as
mentiond, ifconfig tells, that eth0 is configured.
I checked all network parameters i know and they are all right
(ip / netmask/ gateway / dns)
i've no idea what that could be, hopfully you :-)
