USplashDown? Is it possible?

I'm curious what it would take to make a USplashDown (the dual of
USplash that uses a graphical splash screen during shutdown). I imagine
it would be OK if it were only triggered by gdm or gnome shutdown.

Is it possible to get it for the drake?
