Another issue that arises when hiding the totem icon is if a user
wants to play a streamed video off the net using a link he found on
some website. There's always the firefox plugin, but this plugin is
still far away from implementing all the needed functionality like
"save as..", fullscreen, and tends to be a bit sluggish if it even
decides to play the stream in question.

What is this user to do? Ofcourse, less-novice users would be able to
press ALT+F2 and type in totem, but this is hardly obvious to most
people.
