Any planned change on backports policy?

As synchronicity would have it, there is a meeting scheduled for tomorrow,
at 1930 UTC, to discuss exactly this issue, and what can be done to address
it.

I can say right now, though, that the solution is not going to be to update
the stable releases to newer versions of applications, but more likely to
find a way to provide updated packages for users who want them (without
obsoleting the old version).

The situation is not as simple as it might appear, though, and there will be
much to discuss.
