Problem installing Ubuntu when pc connected through proxy

Hi developers,

I have Ubuntu version 5.04. When I installed Ubuntu on a PC connected
through proxy install script hangs when configuring apt printing:

Configuring apt
Testing network repository ....
===

then I have to kill this process and continue manually.

I suspect this script can be more intelligent.
