Helping MOTU Team: UUS project

  Hi there.

Since I had some spare time on my hands, I decited to help (or
support) MOTU-Team. My Package-Foo is weak, so I did something else than
packaging. A small script that can bring some useful data for MOTU. I hope.

Few days ago someone (Ubuntu developer, I think) asked me on the
Ubuntu-users what packages from Universe are installed on my Hoary
server. I replyed that I'll do the list and then, I realized I don't
know all of them. Today I saw another thread about PHP-MySQL being out
of Main (ie. may not get security updates). It was a time for action. ;-)

Using package lists from archive.ubuntu.com (and grep;-) I've created
text files with a packages names. Then I created an SQL database and a
script that will import data from text files. After I got a database
full of packages I could create a code that would handle users package
list in dpkg --get-selections format.

So, now everyone with Hoary can drop thier package list and the
Universe package will get counted. The highest number of hits makes it a
strong candidate for takeover by some skillful MOTU member.

Yes, I know there's Popularity Contest. I forgot about it while I was
coding, and then, after I recalled it, I was to VIm-addicted to stop,
even if all this work was senseless. :-P

It's not yet polished to the max, but please -- try it and tell me if
I should drop it and read Debian Maintainers manual again, or should I
polish it a little bit and pass the URL to the ubunut-users.

time, please, don't hit stop button;-))
