I have a gentoo box that is my "media box" which i am fairly confidet 
that a .wav played on it will sound "correct" - so if I could get the 
name of the wav, ill play it and see if it sounds the same on the Ubuntu 
boxes.  That will make for a more intelegent comment than me trying to 
describe what I am hearing with no baseline for what it should sound like.
