Hi,
I finally installed the Hoary on my notebook (TravelMate630). Respect!
I have a few, probably minor issues:
- The /var/log/messages show frequently an acpi-cpufreq error:
Mar 24 14:27:16 localhost kernel: acpi-cpufreq: Transition failed
I cannot say when exactly that "error" occurs but it doesn't seem to do
any harm to my system. The cpu scaling works according to the CPU
Frequency Monitor fine.
I installed Skype from the bootsplash.de repository: The static version
does depend on a lib that is not available in hoary. Therefore, I
installed the dynamic version that works fine. The only odd thing is
that the font size is ridiculous large.. Same for the source code from
skype.com (skype-1.0.0.20.tar.bz2). Seems to me to be an issue with qt?!
I already wrote an email to the dev-list as I still can't use the nvidia
-glx driver as the module has an invalid format:
FATAL: Error inserting nvidia
(/lib/modules/2.6.10-4-686-smp/kernel/drivers/video/nvidia.ko): Invalid
module format
During the installation of the nvidia-glx package the following "errors"
occur:
ldconfig: /usr/X11R6/lib/libXvMCNVIDIA.so.1.0.7167 is not an ELF file -
it has the wrong magic bytes at the start.
ldconfig: /usr/lib/libGL.so.1.0.7167 is not an ELF file - it has the
wrong magic bytes at the start.
ldconfig: /usr/lib/libGLcore.so.1.0.7167 is not an ELF file - it has the
wrong magic bytes at the start.
Except for those issues Hoary rocks! A big thanks @devs!
