Mount option 'sync' says NOTHING about whether or not a process is
currently reading/writing from the drive, etc.
Supermount supports hot unplugging, because it umounts volumes when not
in use, and remounts them upon access. However, this approach confuses
the heck out of a lot of programs, and it incurrs great performance
impact with 'find' commands. Also, each mount writes to the Superblock,
and it can only be written to a limited number of times before the USB
key will be worn out.
