Hoary fonts

Could autohinter be enabled only in cases when:
1) Language selected doesn't have problems with autohinter
2) Fonts are big enough (I'm not exactly sure how to do this, but I think it can
be done)

I know this is a stretch on Hoary, but with Latin script fonts this seems to
make a monumental improvement in the font appearance - try it and see for
yourself.

Also, about the Firefox fonts - is it feasible to have Vera Sans substituted for
Arial in Ubuntu by default?  I don't like the core fonts, and I think that using
a serif font for Arial is a bad substitution.
