Installed current install image dated 20050310.
Thanks for the image btw.
Using an Athlon Thunderbird 1200 MHz with 768MB RAM, I run Ubuntu warty
on this machine as well.
I have some comments.
1. No choice of accesspoint
During install the installer found my network card which is a wireless
card. The problem here is that I am not allowed to choose an
accesspoint. I was connected to a wrong accesspoint and had to change
this manually from the shell with iwconfig.
2. Too many superfluous questions
During install I was asked a couple of questions to many for my taste, I
choosed to install the Danish language support. During the second round
of installing I was asked:
a)
The following package are not authenticated:
aspell-da, openoffice-hypenation-da, language-support-da,
mozilla-firefox-locale-da-DK, openoffice.org-l10n-da
Do you want to continue?
b) Same as the above, but for English.
I choose yes for both of the questions. I really hope this will be
removed, I dont want to answer these questions, I want to have my
machine install the stuff and only prompt me when the install is
finished.
3. Hang during first login
After the install I tried to login, but the login failed and gdm
hang :( I restarted the computer and was able to login.
4. Cursor
The cursor looks really bad compared to the cursor in warty, I guess
this has been mentioned before, but I will mention it again.
5. GDM, super large screen resolution.
X is setup to use the largest screen resolution posible for my display,
it would be nice to choose a more sensible resolution, like 1024x768, it
was set to 1280x1024.
I know this may be difficult to do, but it would be nice to have more
inteligence here.
6. GDM-2.6.0.7
Thanks for upgrading to GDM-2.6.0.7, it works much better for the Danish
users :o)
7. Nautilus-2.10.0 Danish translation
The danish translation which follows with nautilus-2.10.0 is not the one
from upstream nautilus-2.10.0, strings like "network" and "computer" in
the places menu on windows is not translated to "netværk" and "maskine",
I guess that the translation used in hoary is out of sync with the
translation in the upstream package nautilus-2.10.0.
I will do some more testing today.
Happy hacking!
