synaptics touchpad

To get my synaptics touch pad working i have to add a boot option to the 
kernel: i8024.nomux
everything worked fine until i updated the kernel sources and headers. then 
now it says "uknown boot option". and hence my mouse is not working anymore.
has anyone come accross this problem?

Id appreciate help!
