Oh, its much worse than that. Debian has experimental, unstable 
and stable, Ubuntu has breezy, then there are 'security-updates'
and then backports... so the actual packages available under what
terms and conditions are quite confusing, to me anyhow :)

Situation not helped by inadequate package manager .. but
at least its better than rpms :)
