To get proper build-deps, I have also been trying to get pbuilder to 
make a chroot
environment for me. I see it runs debootstrap.

Two days ago I ran this:
debootstrap --arch i386 hoary bootstrap 
http://archive.ubuntulinux.org/ubuntu

..in order to make just such a chroot environment. Is there some way I can
copy these files in bootstrap into the root pbuilder is setting up to avoid
downloading all the files again? If so, where do I copy them?

If this cannot be easily done, can I set up my local webserver and hosts 
file to fake
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu? ie. are

http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu and
http://archive.ubuntulinux.org/ubuntu the same?
