The best method to connect to the net using a modem in Ubuntu?

What is the best (ie most user friendly way) to connect to the net in
Ubuntu? (i usea modem to dial in to the net)
KPPP is difficult to configure. Is there any better alternative.
Isn't there a dialer for Linux like there's in windows?
