That's a good idea, at least for future installs. But if I am in a
situation that I put together a new system and want to get it working
the shipit CDs aren't always around.

Sure it does. But I guess I won't install most of them. And certainly
most of them aren't needed to configure the system properly, so they can
be installed later separately if/when they are wanted.
