I second the request for FreeNX. I am currently using FreeNX from the
backports repository and it is a very valuable addition to Ubuntu.

I[1] will be using Ubuntu + FreeNX for a project that lets schools use
scientific data and programs provided by the University of Amsterdam.
FreeNX is a great way of establishing a fast and easy graphical link
between windows or linux clients and servers.

[1]: Actually the research group that gave me the task to setup the
server.
