Gnome window list applet - disliking

I think the current Window List 2.9.4 applet is a usability disaster.
Luckily, it'll be easy to fix. See
http://elektron.ewi.tudelft.nl/~feliks44/Screenshot.png , and I'll explain:
If I configure it to have a minimum size of 40, and maximum of 700, and
I open two windows, the total size of the applet stays as small as
possible, which means 40. That size only increases after opening more
windows, but then in the window-buttons in the applet there is only room
for one or two title characters.
When I set the minimum to 500, to make it useful when 10 windows are
open (50 pixels per windows looks reasonable), the applet will also be
500 pixels broad with one or two windows open. That's ugly.
What would be reasonable, of course, is that a "preferred size" per
window-representative could be configured. It looks like it is used now,
but it's set at a value that's too low.
I think my point is clear, now :) I'd like to hear some feedback, and
maybe that it can be fixed in Hoary.
Thanks,
Eric
