| Debian make the change -- especially if it breaks ABI *yet again*  (I
| can't say I've looked at 4.0 yet).

I think it does for C++ code -- people have had very much weird
trouble mixing the pure64 and gcc-3.4 (which is now 4.0) Debian-amd64
archives.
