That works in Epiphany (I use it occasionally).  By default, it works
only for links, but this is a Gecko feature, and you can set it using
"about:config" and setting accessibility.typeaheadfind.linksonly to
false.  

It would be trivial to expose this in the UI, but I'm not sure how
useful that would be.
