IA64 ubuntu

Hi everyone,

I downloaded last week the Jan 5th iso for Ubuntu IA64. Unfortunately 
the Ubuntu installer fails right after boot, so I can't even install it.

I reported bug #4940 on the bugzilla.

However I'd like to participate more than by just reporting bugs. 
Several people here have asked how ubuntu install iso were built but 
nothing really helped me to figure out how to correct the bugs I'm 
experiencing.

What do I need to build the *exact* same isos (ia64 or even x86) and 
eventually hack the sources to correct the bugs? (I figure one of the 
answers is going to be "loads of time" but I guess that won't be enough 
though :) )
