There seems to be no package for Debian or Ubuntu, but all weekend I
was using Joe's Window Manager on a box with 32MB of RAM and was very
impressed with its stability, performance and features. A much better
alternative to IceWM for the memory-restricted, in my opinion (it's
Xlib-only -- though I do like IceWM's "Task Manager" clone for the
Windows converts).

The font in the screenshot is not standard (thankfully).

Though I like the IceWM suggestion in the FAQ, it would be nice if
Ubuntu had an official (virtual?) package or installation option for
the memory-challenged that kept the official palette and branding, and
maybe stayed in sync with the GNOME panel program menus.

I think the Ubuntu Mini-RAM HOWTO is a great start.
