Can you test with the 2.6.11 in universe at some point?

Please file a bug, so this can go upstream (I assume it's supposed to work).

liblockfile-simple-perl is in universe; can someone from MOTU check into
this?

IIRC, the installer uses parted to create an ext2 filesystem, and then
tune2fs to add a journal, and the progress meter only covers the parted bit.
There might also be an implicit sync() at the end of the parted bit, not
sure.

This pause can be lengthy even on smaller filesystems, with slower hardware.
