ion3 in ubuntu

Hi!

I am not sure, if this question belongs to the user or to the devel
list. So please correct me, if I am wrong.

I'd like to use the latest ion3 from debian:
http://packages.debian.org/unstable/x11/ion3

It is 20050116-1

Ubuntu has 20040703-1:
http://mirror.isp.net.au/ftp/pub/ubuntu/pool/universe/i/ion3/

And there is a newer package also in that directory: 20050102-1
But there are only the sources and no debian packages.
Does that mean, I must compile the package on my own?

When will the ion3 package be updated in ubuntu?
