Wireless does not work on Sony Vaio SRX 87P for hoary

Hi,

I am using the hoary live CD (array 4) on my Sony VAIO SRX 87P that 
has an orinoco wireless lan mini pci card. Wireless didn't work out 
of the box. network-admin shows only the modem and the wired ethernet.

Installation seems to have detected the card because it asked for the
wireless ssid for eth1.

Tried
modprobe orinoco_pci

and added

alias eth1 orinoco_pci 
to /etc/modprobe.d/aliases

in order to get things to work.

iwconfig eth1 essid xxx enc yyy complains that SET failed. No device 
eth1 found.

So, am i doing something wrong?
