Packages depending on python <= 2.4 should install fine. Did you mean 2.3?

The python2.3 package is not the same as version 2.3 of the python package.
If you are encountering problems in this area, it is because some
unsupported packages have not yet made the transition to cope with python
2.4 as the default python version. The universe maintenance team is working
on this, but they could surely use more help.
