As it seems, we are going to have the solution outlined in
[1] implemented for the next version of Ubuntu, so you won't
have to pay for it as it will be released as a free
software :-)

I would appriciate any feedback you could provide on the
mentioned feature specification, possibly from your previous
Windows user point of view. This could be very helpful to
me.
