I also just tried with my onboard ProSavage card. It still "works". A
more detailed description would be like (same for my nvidia agp card):



- normal boot text up until audit (bla bla): initializing...

- switch video mode (or just font?) once, still showing text (for about
~1 sec.)

- Show Ubuntu splash ~ 5 sec.

- revert to text mode with fs checks
