Is this a gvim bug?

I think I have discovered an i18n bug in gvim (package vim-gnome).
My /etc/environment sets LANG=nl_NL.utf8 and LC_MESSAGES=en_US.utf8.
This causes all interface elements to be displayed in english, but for
other elements (time format) the durch versions are used.

This all works like a charms, everything is displayed in english. But
there is one exception: gvim. Gvim's menu's are dutch, not english.

Is this a bug or a misconception about i18n on my side?
