Help needed for building Ubuntu ia64 isos

As Colin Watson mentionned it a few weeks ago [1], ia64 isos don't get
built anymore. Furthermore, packages don't seem to get built either (or
I missed them by a few miles)

We (a team of three students) would like to work on ubuntu-ia64 but our
knowledge of inner workings of Debian/apt is quite limited. We'd like to
know if someone could "volunteer" to help us through building packages
repositories and building isos.

The first goal we want to achieve is to build packages from Breezy's
source repository (to update existing installs) and then to get isos
available for download again (taking out some packages if needed).

Comments and suggestions on how to best achive our goals will be more
than welcome.
