I have to say I really dislike that attitude.
I actually use the term GNU/Linux, because I think/thought it's fair,
since a lot of tools in this OS are actually are actually from GNU
and/or under GNU GPL.
But, reading this discussion and reading GNU's FAQ about GNU/Linux, I
really have to say I don't think saying GNU/Linux is actually fair,
because many apps are also not GNU. In the FAQ it says GNU was a
principal part of this OS. It provides for sure some of the most
important parts (glibc) beside the kernel. But I find it arrogant, to
claim it was more important than the kernel.
I think a fair/neutral term would be maybe FOSS/Linux it involleves
preaty much everything involved in this OS namely Free Software,
OpenSource Software and Linux (which actually is Free Software, but I
personaly just think that a kernel is really the main part of an OS and
that Linux has some recognition to it so it shouldn't be removed from
the name, having that said you might respond that removing GNU from the
name isn't fair either: Yes, that's right, but I'm under the impression
that saing it involves Free Software (which is done by FOSS) it actually
still includes GNU, because IMHO Free Software it was GNU stands for as
long as it isn't an OS itself).
