lost X after todays update

I was able to fix mine be editing the xorg.conf file. I had some help
from a post on the forums, but I now forget the exact location of that
help. I'll post again if I find it.

What helped me the most was running $sudo xresprobe ati (I have an ati
video card). From there I could determine my monitor settings and I
changed quite a bit in the xorg.conf file. I backed up my xorg.conf
file. This proved very useful as it took me a few tries before I got
the settings right.
