Perhaps the language should depend on the kind of device?
Discs are "ejected".
Other devices are "unplugged" or "detached"?

Then perhaps ripping should be used everywhere. I don't know of a CD drive
made in the past decade that doesn't support ripping. But I do know of
machines with multiple drives that have only one drive attached to the analog
sound headers on the mainboard.

On Microsoft Windows 2000 one can resize some UI elements (such as the window
resize frame, scrollbar, and scroll buttons). I tried this to get to sizes
that were more comfortable for my eyes and coordination. Perhaps that was
just scaling bitmaps, but the feature was handy to have.
Another note on this--the default size for XMMS UI elements is too small for
me to read or use at 1600x1200. I have to blow it up to "double size" to
begin to use the program. If I didn't know about the double size menu choice
(as MPT says about context menus for Nautilus icons), this would be ironic
because I would have to know where the tiny double size button is before I can
toggle it on.
